As it stands, the United States and much of the world is experiencing a needed but dreaded recession. Banks are closing, houses are being seized, and people are losing their jobs. times are tight and finally all social classes are feeling the crunch. So why then does Hollywood spend an abundant amount of money? Better yet, why does America, including the people and the Government allow it to happen? As it is with sports, there should be a salary cap. Understandably it's unrealistic, but not as much as one thinks. Sure we all want to make money and those in Hollywood may not be happy but as an outsider to that crazy world, I'm not happy about the sacrifices I've had to make. What I'm saying is not a stretch nor is is a students attempt to gain 15 minutes. What this is, is a suggestion to help the masses. Something that gives back to those who need the most without leaving those who don't under the bus.
For starters, actors salaries need to be cut. I don't care how good or who you are, one does need $20M per movie. There is no need for one person to have that much money, especially when there are starving children living on our streets. The production cost for movies need to go down as well. The only reason costs went up is because people got money hungry and it was allowed. Presidents and CEO's of companies jacked prices and as consumers we literally bought into it. Well now we're all paying for it. Pun intended.
Taking a stand against major corporations isn't the exact solution, but it is a necessary step in the quantum physics math problem we've found ourselves in. By refusing to pay ridiculous prices for certain items, we will force companies to make a decision. Sometimes that decision may hurt some workers, but if we focus our attention on those businesses who employ overseas, we can begin to work on America. For that is the true challenge. We must help ourselves before we can help others.
